Applications: Medical record, hospital information system, radiology information system, laboratory information system, pharmaceutical information system, administrative information system of material and anaesthesiological administrative information system. |

Definition and applications of Telemedicine. Physiological and medical data acquisition systems (Cameras: CRT, CCD, CMOS, Image quality issues). Minimal technical requirements from computing systems and warehouse systems in telemedicine service. High computing output requirements. Data storage systems. Image and Video Compression and Coding (JPEG, MPEG, Wavelets). Computer supported cooperative work. Main Telemedicine applications: Teleradiology, Telepathology, Telecytology, Telecardiology, Teleoncology, Telesurgery, Telepsychiatry, Teledermatology, Telemedicine in primary health care places. Quality control and quality safeguard in Telemedicine. Data safety and privacy. Legal and ethical issues. Financial and administration issues. |

Digital Medical Image Processing Fundamentals. Image enhancement, segmentation, registration, interpolation, visualization and fusion of medical images. Pattern analysis and texture, border analysis of salient objects. Motion compensation techniques. Applications in computational microscopy, digital mammography, ultrasounds, magnetic resonance and computational tomography images. Exercises and laboratory with the use of Matlab environment. |
